Titled Jennifer in Paradise, it was taken by Photoshop creator John Knoll in 1987 while he and his then-girlfriend Jennifer were holidaying in Bora Bora. Shortly after taking the photograph, Knoll proposed to her.

A Printable Keyboard That Functions Like A Regular Keyboard – 17 February 2014

Cambridge-based creative development firm Novalia has created a functional keyboard that can be printed onto a sheet of paper.

Unveiled at the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the keyboard is printed onto standard photo paper with conductive ink via Bluetooth. It works by employing captive touch technology that does not require special machinery, using standard print processes like screen printing, flexography and offset lithography. The use of inexpensive materials helps to keep costs low, and the team hopes to price it at an extremely affordable price of $10.

MobileMe is officially closed, but Apple is for a “limited time” offering links for users to access the services and retrieve their files, as well as upgrade their existing accounts to iCloud.

Tomorrow, Apple will be closing down its MobileMe online service in place of its new iCloud offerings. While some of the previous MobileMe services have been continued in iCloud, a few of them including Web hosting, photo gallery, and the iDisk online storage option will be shuttered. If you have used MobileMe for various hosting or storage purposes, then be sure to log in to MobileMe and back up your data because after tomorrow you will no longer be able to access your files.

21 Indian cos apply for domain names priced over Rs 1 cr each – 14 June 2012

Leading corporate houses like Reliance Industries, Airtel and State Bank of India have applied to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann).for “top-level domains” such as .Indians, .RIL, .Bharti, .SBI to replace the traditional .com, .net and the other usual suffixes on their website addresses.

Icann had in January invited applications from companies, organisations and individuals to buy specific words that will replace the present top level domain names in practice for USD 185,000 (over Rs 1 crore) Companies applying for the generic top level domain (gTLD) have to provide bank guarantees of $2,50,000 (Rs 1.38 crore).

Hurban, 21, who works in a tattoo parlor in Newfield, New Jersey, implanted four metal studs in the skin of his wrist and secured his iPod to them magnetically.

“I just invented the strapless watch,” he said on Monday of his Apple Inc device, set to display a clock.

Hurban cheerfully recounted how he mapped out the four corners of the iPod on his arm and then inserted four titanium studs into his skin. Once the incisions healed, he popped on his iPod, which is held in place magnetically.

US judge sends Apple, Samsung to settlement talks – 18 April 2012

Apple Inc (AAPL.O) and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS) agreed that their chief executives would participate in settlement talks to try to resolve a patent lawsuit over smartphone and tablet technology, according to a court filing.

Apple sued Samsung in the United States last year, saying the South Korean company’s Galaxy line of mobile phones and tablets “slavishly” copies the iPhone and iPad. Samsung then countersued Apple.

Video-sharing website YouTube, owned by Google, aims to spruce up its social networking skills through better integration across platforms, and hopes to more than double annual ad revenue in emerging markets like India, a top executive said.

“YouTube has been lacking great social features. Commenting and sharing have been part of YouTube, but the experiences could be much better than they are,” Tom Pickett, global content head for the website, told Reuters in an interview on Thursday during a visit to India.

YouTube says it gets around 800 million unique users every month. India is the second-biggest source of content for YouTube, after the United States.

Apple works on Mac malware fix but takes heat – 12 April 2012

The cybersecurity community raked Apple Inc (AAPL.O) over the coals on Wednesday, saying the company had dragged its heels on eradicating malware that experts say may have infected up to 600,000 Macintosh computers and can be used to ferret out sensitive user information.

The consumer electronics company said it was working on finding and ridding “Flashback” malware that exploits a flaw in Oracle Corp’s (ORCL.O) Java software. Apple has issued patches and is now developing software to detect and eliminate Flashback, it said on its website. The company declined to elaborate.

But Apple is catching heat for not having quickly addressed the issue, even after Oracle distributed its own patch in February.

Web addresses ending in .xxx have gone on general sale, as legal efforts continue to scupper the domain name.

Some 100,000 addresses have already been purchased in a restricted sale. The first pages went live in September.

Porn sites sue internet regulator over .xxx web address – 23 February 2012

Two of the internet’s biggest pornography firms are suing the net’s address regulator, Icann, over its introduction of the .xxx suffix.

Manwin Licensing and Digital Playground have also filed a lawsuit against ICM Registry, which is running the new top-level domain name (TLD).

The firms claimed that the decision to create .xxx had been flawed and that ICM had abused its position.

ICM said that the claims were baseless. Icann said it was reviewing the case.
